Prints by Christie Norton

I am a married working mother of two girls, with a full time job in healthcare. I found working and parenting during the pandemic to be all consuming. I began printmaking in 2022 as a way to re-discover what brings me joy and as a way to my emotions. With an artistic background in photography, I often create the initial composition with camera lens. I enjoy manipulating the images captured through wood block printing and screen printing. This has lead to exploration of other printmaking mediums including monoprints and cyanotype.

My work is largely inspired by the coastal community in which I live, York ME. My husband's family resided in this area since the mid to late 1600s. His ancestors spent their days farming, harvesting ice, and developing community around them. Their legacy is one of hard work and dedication to the land they've called home. These themes carry through to my work, with themes such as plants, animals, and water coming through as favorite subjects. I’m also inspired by my family and travels, including a recent family vacation to England and France.

You can find my work for sale here, on this website. I also frequent shows in York and surrounding areas. Updates about work and events can be found on my social media pages. I occasionally accept commissions; please feel free to connect with me for details.
